Description:
Phytosterols are an off-white granular product having a slight odor and taste. Phytosterols are derived from vegetable oils. Structurally similar to cholesterol, in studies, phytosterols have been found to reduce the absorption of dietary cholesterol which cna impact serum cholesterol levels. [J. of Nutr., 107:1139-1146 (1977); Can. J, Physiol. Pharmacol., 75:217-227 (1997)]. Phytosterols are approved for use in margarine, salad dressing, and in nutritional supplements. Phytosterols can be formulated into cosmetics such as skin creams, lipsticks, soap and hair car products.
Storage:
Phytosterols should be stored in closed packaging under dry conditions.
