Propylene glycol is most widely used as a major component in antifreeze and coolant products. It is also used as aircraft de-icing fluid. Similar to ethylene glycol, propylene glycol is often used as a carrier or base in a number of heat-transfer fluid mixtures. Additionally, propylene glycol is commonly used as chemical feedstock for the production of various unsaturated polyester resins.
