Most commonly, lactic acid is used in the food and beverage industry as a flavoring agent and as a preservative for certain products; it is primarily found in sour dairy products, such as yogurt and cottage cheese.

Parchem also offers USP grade lactic acid for use in the pharmaceutical industry where it is primarily used to produce water-soluble lactates from otherwise-insoluble active ingredients.  Additionally, USP grade lactic acid can be further used in numerous topical preparations and cosmetics. 

Parchem’s industrial grade lactic acid is the product of choice to be utilized in the textile and leather industries.  It plays a vital role during the dying process of wool and in the preparation/tanning of leather hides. Other industrial applications for lactic acid include the manufacture of certain plastics, adhesives, and even industrial solvents.
