As a leading global supplier to over 14 major industries, Parchem – fine & specialty chemicals supplies a wide variety of compounds, ranging from specialty intermediates to emulsifiers and stabilizers. One of Parchem’s featured product lines is our polyphosphates catalog, and this week Parchem is proud to highlight Potassium Tripolyphosphate.

Potassium Tripolyphosphate [ CAS# 13845-36-8 ] is mainly used in the production of pigments and fillers for paint products, as well as in the breaking down of agglomerates and the stabilization of pigment suspensions.  Potassium Tripolyphosphate also possesses excellent chelating properties and can form stable chelates with the elemental metals present in hard water, including Ca2+ and Mg2+. This chelation “softens” the water and increases its ability to clean and remove dirt.

Due to its stability in solution, Potassium Tripolyphosphate is also a widely used pH buffer and can be used to maintain the pH values of solutions for long periods of time. These properties make Potassium Tripolyphosphate and other polyphosphate salts very useful as components and building blocks in the production of commercial detergents, soaps, and liquid cleaning formulations.

Parchem – fine & specialty chemicals is your most reliable resource for specialty raw materials.  We are committed to providing our customers with the best full service experience by combining expert customer service with the expertise of our proactive resourcing specialists.
