Specialized raw materials for the industrial, pharmaceutical, personal care, and specialty chemical markets are Parchem’s areas of expertise. For many years, Parchem has established its footprint as a leading global supplier of products for the industrial and flavor & fragrance industry.   One of many specialty products Parchem offers is Safrole [CAS #94-59-7], also known as 5-prop-2-enyl-1,3-benzodioxol. This organic compound derived from the Sassafras root is a clear, colorless to slightly-yellow liquid.

Common applications for Safrole are in the production of various soaps, suntan preparations, and perfumes. It is also widely used to synthesize heliotropin (piperonal), which is a compound utilized to further prepare many downstream fragrances with odors similar to vanilla or cherry. Additionally, Safrole is a chemical used frequently in organic synthesis to form bicyclic and aromatic compounds such as vanillin.  Other applications include general flavor & fragrance manufacturing, industrial chemical fabrication, and the production of several topical products, medicines, and certain antiseptic agents.

Parchem – fine & specialty chemicals takes pride in providing our partners with unique, specialized raw materials. We are committed to ensuring the strictest adherences to federal law, including those governing products on the DEA List I such as Safrole.  As a registered supplier of DEA List I chemicals, Parchem is fully equipped with warehousing and logistics solutions to effectively manage our partners’ specialized supply chain needs.
