As a solvent, acetonitrile is used in the purification of butadiene and the production of DNA oligonucleotides. Additionally, acetonitrile is a key component in the early-stage production of goods such as plastic and rubber products, a variety of pharmaceuticals, lithium batteries, photographic film, spinning fibers, perfumes, pesticides, and acrylic nail polish removers.
