Parchem - fine & specialty chemicals is a leading supplier of acetonitrile (CAS 75-05-8) in the global marketplace. Acetonitrile is a colorless liquid with low viscosity and an ether-like odor. It is most often used as a polar solvent in technical, industrial, pharmaceutical, and numerous laboratory applications. Synonyms include methyl cyanide, cyanomethane, ethyl nitrile, ethanenitrile, and ACN.

Acetonitrile’s primary function in the chemical industry is as a solvent. It has moderate polarity and is miscible in water in addition to a large range of organic solvents. As a solvent, acetonitrile is used in the purification of butadiene and the production of DNA oligonucleotides. Additionally, acetonitrile is a key component in the early-stage production of goods such as plastic and rubber products, a variety of pharmaceuticals, lithium batteries, photographic film, spinning fibers, perfumes, pesticides, and acrylic nail polish removers. In laboratory settings, ACN is often used in the mobile phase in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Another minor use for acetonitrile is for the extraction of fatty acids from vegetable and animal oils.

As an ISO 9001:2008 certified company, Parchem – fine & specialty chemicals is committed to providing our customers with the highest quality of products and services accurately, on time, and within budget.
