Nitric Acid [CAS# 7697-37-2] is a widely used chemical reagent in industrial manufacturing applications. As a strong mineral acid, Nitric Acid is commonly utilized as a powerful oxidizing agent, a laboratory reagent, and an important raw material for the manufacture of fertilizers and dyes. Parchem offers a variety of different classifications of nitric acid based upon the concentration present in the solution.

Nitric acid at concentrations above 86% is referred to as fuming nitric acid. The solution is further classified as red or white fuming nitric acid, depending on the concentration of the solution and the color of the fumes it emits. These highly concentrated nitric acid solutions are typically preferred for their strong oxidizing properties, which make them favorable for the production of high performance rocket fuels. 

Parchem also provides dilute nitric acid solutions, typically below 10%, which can be used in woodworking applications as a treatment and coloring agent.  In fertilizers and agricultural products, dilute nitric acid is chosen because of the important role that Nitrogen plays in the growth cycle of plants.  Specifically, nitrogen is a vital component in the activity of chlorophyll’s photosynthesis process, and dilute nitric acid is often the raw material of choice to infuse fertilizer blends with active Nitrogen.
