SOCMA’s 7th Annual Washington Fly-in on April 29th-30th was attended by Randi Norfleet, Senior Director of Strategy. As the premier global marketer of specialty chemicals to the pharmaceutical, personal care, and specialty chemical markets, Parchem was pleased to support SOCMA’s efforts in Washington. This year’s event was a tremendous success that brought key chemical industry leaders together to advocate for laws and regulations that support specialty chemical manufacturers' competitiveness and market challenges.
The Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) is the only U.S. based trade association dedicated solely to the specialty chemical industry. With an industry impact on the U.S. GDP over $2.8 trillion, specialty chemical manufacturers play a vital role in the global chemical industry, producing a broad range of commercial and consumer products, from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics, soaps, plastics, and industrial products. Since 1921, SOCMA has represented a diverse membership of medium-to-large chemical companies located around the world. This year’s fly-in focused on Passage of TSCA Reform, Miscellaneous Tariff Bill, Support for Trade Promotion Authority, Renewal of R&D Tax Credit Support for Regulatory Reform, and Federal funding for basic research in science.
Randi Norfleet, Parchem’s Senior Director of Strategy, noted that the meetings with legislators and staffers were both productive and well-received. “There was a true sense of commitment to address key issues facing a consistently regulated industry. Parchem is a proud member of SOCMA and has participated in several events and media opportunities which support the specialty chemical industry."
